The Sugar Run Valley Baptist Church exists for the purpose of bringing glory to God (I Corinthians 1:31; 10:31). This is accomplished through the message we preach, the lives we live, the love we show to each other, and the service we perform for our Lord Jesus Christ.
We preach the Bible, God’s inerrant Word. We believe all of God’s Word is profitable for the Christian (II Timothy 3:16) and do our best to proclaim the whole counsel of God. The Gospel of Jesus Christ (the good news of His death for our sins, His burial and His resurrection – I Corinthians 15:1-4) is emphasized so that people can believe it and be saved (Romans 10:9-13). The Gospel is our message to the lost world.
We strive to live holy lives which honor our Lord (I Peter 1:15,16). True holiness is not attained through legalistic rules keeping, but through obedience to God’s commands because we love Him (John 14:15; I John 5:3).
We strive, as a church, to live and serve our Lord in harmony, loving each other as God has instructed (I John 3:10,11; 4:7,11). The world is watching, and God has given them a way to know whether we are true disciples. They will know we are genuine by observing how we love each other (John 13:35).
As God’s people, we strive to serve our Lord, because we love Him (Joshua 24:15; Matthew 6:24; John 12:26). This is done through our daily walk of obedience, our caring for people in need, our witnessing to the lost around us, our active service in the programs of our church, our giving to the work of the Lord, and our interest in and support of mission work around the world (Acts 1:8).
May our Lord find us faithful to our mission and correct us when we fail to glorify Him.
